That's Life

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t posted as frequently as I’d hoped to. But that’s life.

In the meantime, my son just took a great new job that will give him incredible experience. But just before that, he suffered a heavy personal hit that took him down a long way. That’s life.

One of my husband’s co-workers has been struggling with family issues and just made the life-changing decision to quit his job and move a long way away, and to be closer to family. That’s life.

I bit the bullet and submitted my manuscript to agents and editors. So far, one “no, thanks”, two “it may take a while, but we’ll get back to you,” one continuing silence, and one publisher who had asked for a full that I just found out was going out of business. That’s life.

We seem to think that we can plan out our lives and generally keep it all together. But does that really work for anyone? Even if we COULD control our own lives, they intersect with so many others who we have no control over.

Who can foresee that driver who decided they just had to read that text as they were coming up behind you at an intersection? Or the sudden illness of the company’s owner, which results in the closing of the business you’ve worked at for the last ten years. Or your daughter, whom you didn’t even know was dating anyone seriously, suddenly announcing she’s getting married. THAT’S life.

It’s unpredictable, exciting, depressing, unrelenting, and goes by So. Damn. Fast.

But hey, it beats the alternative, right? Here's to hoping you're living your life to the fullest, and helping those around you do the same.
